Recipe for success x tootsies
Events: PHILANTHROPIC
On a seven-acre site near downtown Houston, Hope Farms grows affordable fresh produce for Houstonians, trains and mentors new urban farmers, and provides a place for everyone to learn about and celebrate food, supporting Recipe for Success Foundation’s efforts to teach, empower and inspire healthy eating in a powerful new way.
Presented by Tootsies, this annual fall fashion show and VIP styling experience couples chic looks at Houston’s premier urban farm, culminating with a robust brunch hosted by local Houston restaurants. The high-style, pandemic-friendly program included a full production fashion show featuring styles from Texas-born designer, Lela Rose.
To debut her upcoming Spring 21 collection, the Hope Farms Gathering Barn was repurposed into The World of Lela Rose. Guests could shop the latest collection ahead of the Tootsies Pop-Up and enjoy “Match the Dress” themed food and cocktails provided by R4S sponsors, Salata and Tito’s Vodka. Upon departing, each attendee was given a surprise take-home gift featuring Lela Rose scarves, jewelry and accessories, as well as fresh flowers hand-picked from the farm.
This year’s alfresco event raised $185,000 to further the Recipe for Success Foundation’s initiative to teach, empower, and inspire healthy eating. With the proceeds, the foundation aims to provide weekly distribution of free produce grown at Hope Farms to feed families in the Sunnyside neighborhood of Houston.
